Know your Software version

To see software version of your phone you need to short-circuit antenna ground
with the two nearest pin together in the connector located under the phone. Then:
Power ON the phone
and type:

now display is showing software version of your phone.

Know your Serial Number

To see the serial number of your phone you need to short-circuit antenna ground
with the two nearest pin together in the connector located under the phone. Then:

Power ON the phone
and type:

now display is showing the first pair of digits, then go ahead using
[left arrow]
to show the second pair and so on.

How to Perform a Hard Master Reset On Motorola Q

Here are some instructions on how to perform a hard master reset for the Motorola Q smartphone.

  • Use the navigation pad keys to go to Start > System Tools > MASTER RESET

How to Change Folder Thumbnail Preview Picture With Any Other Picture

It sometimes happens to the user that he want to user his desired picture to be displayed at the thumbnail of the folder for may be for his remembering function, or for some other reason.

In Windows Explorer window, when files and folders are listed in Extra Large Icons, Large Icons, Medium Icons and Tiles view, Windows Vista/XP can show a preview thumbnail on the icons of folders itself using content inside the folders, normally image and photo or file type icon if there is no graphic file inside the folder.

The thumbnail preview picture on folder’s icon listing in Windows Explorer window allows user to have a quick yet comprehensive glance about the file contents that may contains inside the folders. However, sometimes, the thumbnail preview image is not the one that user wants. In this case, user can customize or self define a picture to be used, placed and showed on the folder icon.

1. In Windows Explorer, at folder parent level, right click on the folder that want to change its preview image on folder icon, and then select Properties.
2. Click on Customize tab.
3. Under Folder pictures section, click on Choose File button.
4. In “Browse” dialog box appears, select an image file to represent the folder and to show on the folder icon when viewing directory listing in supported views, and click Open.
5. The selected picture will be used as thumbnail preview image on folder icon with immediate effect.
6. Remove the user-set folder picture, click on Restore Default button instead.

How to Disable “Skype Auto Start” in Mac

After installing the Skype, it used to auto start when you Boot\Reboot your PC. It may be unpleasant.

To disable Skype auto start in Mac, follow the instruction below:-

  • Start your Skype
  • Right click at the Skype Icon at your Dock / Taskbar
  • Select “Open At Login” to uncheck the tick
  • Done, you have just disable Skype from auto start

Method 2:

  • Go to System Preference -> Accounts
  • Select your account at the left column
  • Click on “Login Items” tab
  • Highlight Skype and Click on the “-” button
  • Done, you have just disable Skype from auto start

How to Speed Up SATA Hard Drives in Vista

In Vista, by default, the advanced write caching feature of SATA hard drives is not enabled.

  • To enable it,
  • Write ‘devmgmt.msc‘ in start menu search bar and hit enter
    It will open the Device Manager.
  • In Left Hand Side, select Disk Drives and right click on it.
  • Open its Properties and got to Policies tab.
  • There select Enable Advanced Performance.
  • Click OK.

That’s it.

It will definitely increase your Hard drive speed.

Clear DNS cache on Linux

First of all you have to be logged in as Administrator in RedHat/ Suse Linux

Then write following in vi-editor

# service nscd restart

You will get these messages
Shutting down Name Service Cache Daemon done
Starting Name Service Cache Daemon done

To Clear Cache in Mac OS

  • Type dscacheutil -flushcache in your terminal to flush the DNS resolver cache.
  • Ex: bash-2.05a$ dscacheutil -flushcache
  • Once you run the command your DNS cache (in Mac OS X Leopard) will flush.

How to Clear and Reset DNS Cache

The Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical naming system for computers, services, or any resource participating in the Internet. It associates various information with domain names assigned to such participants. Most importantly, it translates humanly meaningful domain names to the numerical (binary) identifiers associated with networking equipment for the purpose of locating and addressing these devices world-wide.

Many times there comes a error while debugging or developing web-sites that “Unable to resolve” - DNS requests. This can be very unpleasant. As long as that failed entry is in your DNS cache, your box will continue to give you a “Unable to resolve” error. For that you have to clear your DNS cache. For that do the following…

  • Got to Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
  • If you are not logged in as Administrator than Right click on Command Prompt and ‘Run As Administrator‘.
  • Type the following and hit enter:
    ipconfig /flushdns
  • You should be able to see a confirmation dialog window:Windows IP Configuration.
    Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

That’s all you have to do.

Recover your Memory card password

It may happen that you have forgot your MMC password, may be because you have not used it for a very long time or simply you just want to recover the password. I hope the following methods will work well for you, Just try out these methods…
Method 1:

1. Install the system explorer or file explorer tool.

2. Navigate to mmcstore file in the system folder in c drive.

3. Just open the file using any hex code editor.

4. The file on opening will show some information along with the password of your mmc.

5. Just to save yourself from any future trouble you can also save the file as text file which can be opened by any text editor.

If you don’t have any hex code editor then follow this Method.

Method 2:

What you need to do exactly is just connect the phone to your pc and navigate to the same file. Then you need to copy the file on your desktop and open it with any editor, for instance notepad or Microsoft word. Once it is opened the file will show the password.

How to run Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 on the Same Computer

If You want both versions of the firefox to run on the same PC then follow these steps:

  • Create a backup of your existing profile folder - C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
  • Download Firefox 3 beta 3 from Mozilla.
  • Install it to a folder different from the installation location of Firefox 2.
  • During installation select custom and ask the installer not to create any shortcuts. (We’ll create them manually)
  • Important: At the end of the installation, do *not* select the check box to launch Firefox. We are not yet ready to lanuch it.
  • In a command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd), navigate to the folder where you installed Firefox 3 and run the command
    firefox.exe - P
  • In the window that pops up, click new and create a new Profile named Firefox3Test.
  • Now create a shortcut of firefox.exe in the Desktop. Edit the shortcut’s property and add -P Firefox3Test to the end (after the “” ends) in the command option.

Use this shortcut to launch Firefox 3. Use your old shortcuts to launch Firefox2.
