How to Change BIOS Password
It may happen to you that you get forgot your BIOS password or just some of your friend have entered the BIOS password and don’t let you know what is it. Then you don’t have to worry much because reseting the BIOS password is not a big deal. Although this is a simple trick which can be done by any newbie.
Method 1
To do so you can try one of these or may be both
The BIOS password is stored in CMOS memory. And CMOS is controlled by the small battery which is connected to the motherboard. If this battery is removed, all the CMOS information is deleted. To do so..
- Switch OFF the power
- Open your CPU cabinet
- Now try to locate the CPU battery which looks like this.
- Once you locate your battery you need to remove it once and restart your PC without the battery.
I hope this will work but if not follow the another one.
Method 2
Some time battery removal doesn’t work and some time it may be impossible to remove the battery beacuse it be soldered to the motherboard or any. In that case try to locate the jumper, on the motherboard you should find a jumper that will clear the BIOS password. Motherboard documentation will help you a lot in that case. This jumper may be labeled on the motherboard or this is the one which nearer to the CMOS battery.
Just remove this jumper.
If all fails, you may have to clear the BIOS password by resetting the RTC (Real Time Clock) IC (Integrated Circuit) on your motherboard.
That’s it.
