Quick Drag – Just Drag to Open the Link

You must have tired of copying the link from one page, opening another page/tab and pasting the link into the Browser URL to open the link, right? But, Firefox has now come with the add-on that can save your time and effort of doing this. You can just drag and open the link in another tab or you can save the image by just dragging it and placing it somewhere on the page.

Probably, one of the must have add-on for the Mozila Firefox, isn’t it? Yes, it actually is.
Quick Drag extends the functionality of the drag and drop mouse gesture, in order to use it to load the URLs. It can perform a web search of the selected text in a page or it can help you to save an image from the page. This add-on is compatible with Firefox as well as with Seamonkey.

You can say that, Quick Drag is a successor of the SuperDragAndGo. This add-on is providing the same functionality with the small footprint. Please find the general information at http://code.kliu.org/quickdrag/ and FAQ at http://code.kliu.org/quickdrag/faq.html.

Tricks & Tips:

1.    There is an add-on setting if you want to use the behavior of old Quick and Drag functionality to opening a link in a new tab rather than searching for it.

2.    There is an option of opening an image in new tab, if you don’t want to save them. You just need to hold Ctrl [Control] button while dragging the image.

3.    If you will hold Alt [Alter] button while dragging a URL, you will be able to save a tab rather than opening it in a new tab.

4.    If you will hold [Shift] button at the time of dragging and dropping, you will be able to reverse the
background/foreground tab behavior of the drag. (i.e. if your setting will be opening it in a background tab, this will open it in the foreground tab).

Skip-Screen : A must Add-on from Firefox

The Mozilla keeps coming with the new add-ons which generally become helpful to all the users in one or the other way. This time they have come with the add-on which is a must for each and every user of the Mozila Firefox who are using the websites like Rapidshare.com and many of them.

In order to skip the unnecessary pages on the websites like Megaupload, Rapidshare, Mediafire, zShare and many other websites, Mozila has introduced an add-on which does this job for you.

Skip-screen is an add-on which is persistently maintained and it is improving day by day. While clicking through the advertisement laden pages or while waiting for the countdowns, Skip-screen can be there to make your life comfortable. Skip-screen itself clicks through the loops to access the content which you are actually looking for.

Skip-screen comes with some of the most popular sites, where you need to go through add-laden pages and countdowns and you can be annoyed by the delay created. But, there is a facility where you can submit more websites to Skip-screen, which you can think are doing the same thing and they can add the support for those sites in the Skip-screen.

Make Firefox Twice as Fast and Much More Stable Easily

so your firefox is running Slow ? you can now make it fast some just doing some tweaks

Reduce the amount of RAM Firefox uses for it’s cache feature

Try this:1) Type “about:config” (no quotes) in the address bar in the browser.
2) Find “browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers
3) Set it’s value to “0“;(Zero)

Increase the Speed in Which Firefox loads pages

1) Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit Enter. (Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.)2) Alter the entries as follows:
Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true
Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true
Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 10.

This means it will make 10 requests at once.

3) Lastly, right-click anywhere and select New->Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0“;.(Zero)

This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives. If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages faster now.

Optionally (for even faster web browsing) here are some more options for your about:config (you might have to create some of these entries by Right Click –> New– >Interger or String

network.dns.disableIPv6”: set “false
content.notify.backoffcount”: set “5”; (Five)
ui.submenuDelay”: set “0”; (Zero)

Reduce RAM usage to 10mb when Firefox is minimized

This little hack will drop Firefox’s RAM usage down to 10 Mb when minimized:1) Open Firefox and go to the Address Bar. Type in about:config and then press Enter.
2) Right Click in the page and select New -> Boolean.
3) In the box that pops up enter “config.trim_on_minimize”. Press Enter.
4) Now select True and then press Enter.
5) Restart Firefox.

These simple tweaks will make your web browsing with Mozilla Firefox at least twice as fast and it’s a pretty simple thing anybody can do.
